Faculty Scholarship Award

September 7-9, 2016 at the Grand Hyatt on Union Square, San Francisco, California

The annual Western Users of SAS (WUSS) educational forum and conference is conducted for the educational growth, training, and networking of conference attendees. In order to further these goals, the WUSS Executive Committee is providing a limited number of scholarships to college and university professors or lecturers to attend the 2016 WUSS conference with complimentary conference registration, lodging, two half-day classes (Wed AM and/or Fri PM), and travel money for awarded applicants*.

The conference will be held September 7-9, 2016 at the Grand Hyatt on Union Square, San Francisco, California.

    1. Must be employed at a degree granting college or university as a professor or lecturer with a teaching or research assignment at the time of the conference (during the 2016-2017 academic year)
    2. This college or university must be in the WUSS region - Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming
    3. Must not have received a faculty award in any previous year
    4. Must provide proof of teaching/research assignment via an official letter from your college or university (including contact information)
    5. Must use or be planning to use SAS in their teaching or research
    6. Must submit and present a presentation (not including Quick Tips or Posters) at the WUSS 2016 conference
    7. Award recipients are expected to volunteer as a session or class coordinator, which takes approximately 4 hours, at a pre- or post-conference class or during an in-conference presentations



APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications and accompanying materials for all applicants must be submitted no later than June 6, 2016; incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

ABSTRACT DEADLINE: An abstract must be submitted no later than May 2, 2016; please see Important Dates for the call for papers deadline (go to to submit your abstract.) The WUSS presentation mentoring program is available to all presenters. 

The scholarship requires that you fulfill the role of a session or class coordinator. This duty takes approximately 4 hours at a pre- or post-conference class or in-conference presentations.


Any faculty member who meets the outlined eligibility requirements is encouraged to apply. All applicants must submit a complete online application and proof of teaching/research assignment by the deadline. INCOMPLETE AND LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

*Approved transportation expenses will be reimbursed up to $350; those who live within reasonable commuting distance to San Francisco will not receive travel or hotel benefits.
