Volunteering

For a more rewarding conference experience, make a contribution to our conference team by volunteering!

Western Users of SAS Software is an all-volunteer organization. We rely on volunteers like you to make the conference a success.   Volunteering is a great way to network and become more active in the SAS user group community.

As a volunteer you can:

  • Work with a great group of people in the SAS community.
  • Assist the conference chairs, section chairs, presenters, and attendees.
  • Make new friends and connections.
  • Spend a morning or afternoon in a presentation room of interest to you.
  • Practice your presentation skills by introducing speakers or assisting in the coordination of an event.
  • Give back and feel rewarded.
  • Wear a volunteer ribbon on your name badge.
  • Network with other volunteers.
Typical Volunteer Opportunities

  • Session Coordinator

Assist the section chairs during presentations (typically 2 session coordinators per room). Session coordinators may help with introducing presenters, timing presentations, distributing handouts, monitoring lighting and doors, judging papers, helping the speaker set up, and other tasks that may arise during the session. A session coordinator is asked to volunteer for a half-day (4 hours) in a section of their choice, if available.

  • Giveaway Assistant

Help the giveaway coordinator before and during the conference. This may include setting up the giveaway desk, and handing out conference materials and conference bags. Assistants usually work in two 2-hour blocks of time.

  • Survey Volunteer

Assist the Survey Coordinator by encouraging attendees to fill out the online Conference Survey.  Assistants usually work in two 2-hour blocks of time.
